Terms of Service

1. Purpose

GeneraBridge is a student-led nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering meaningful intergenerational connections between high school students and older adults in nursing homes and senior living communities. Through structured virtual conversations, the program seeks to reduce social isolation among seniors, promote empathy and understanding among youth, and provide students with opportunities to earn verified community service hours. GeneraBridge’s mission is grounded in respect, compassion, and dialogue that strengthen community bonds across generations.

2. Eligibility

Participation in GeneraBridge programs is open to high school students who agree to comply with all volunteer guidelines and uphold the organization’s standards of professionalism and respect. Older adult participants are referred through partner facilities and community organizations. Volunteers under the age of 18 may be required to obtain written consent from a parent or guardian prior to participation. GeneraBridge reserves the right to approve or deny applications based on suitability for program participation.

3. Code of Conduct

All participants are expected to conduct themselves with courtesy, sensitivity, and integrity. Participants agree to treat one another with kindness and patience; to refrain from using offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate language or behavior; to maintain the confidentiality of conversations; and to use GeneraBridge communication platforms (including Zoom) solely for approved program activities. Recording, sharing, or distributing conversations without prior permission is strictly prohibited. GeneraBridge reserves the right to suspend or remove any participant who fails to uphold these standards.

4. Privacy and Data Use

GeneraBridge collects limited personal information, including name, email, and school affiliation, for the sole purpose of program administration. Personal data will not be sold, shared, or distributed to external entities. Authorized staff may review communications to ensure participant safety and compliance with program policies. GeneraBridge is committed to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to all applicable privacy regulations.

5. Liability Disclaimer

GeneraBridge programs are offered “as is” and “as available.” While the organization strives to provide a safe and supportive environment, it cannot guarantee uninterrupted service or assume responsibility for technical disruptions, participant conduct outside official sessions, or unintended consequences arising from participation. By joining the program, participants acknowledge and accept these limitations and agree to participate at their own discretion.

6. Donations and Financial Transparency

All donations to GeneraBridge are voluntary and non-refundable. Contributions support operational expenses such as technology platforms, volunteer training, and community outreach. As a student-led nonprofit initiative, GeneraBridge maintains a commitment to transparency and accountability in all financial matters. Donors may request general information about the use of funds upon reasonable notice.

7. Policy Updates

GeneraBridge may amend these Terms of Service periodically to reflect program growth, updated policies, or new legal requirements. Participants will be notified of any significant changes through official communication channels. Continued participation after such updates signifies acceptance of the revised terms.
